National Friends of the Library Week
The Bridgeville Public Library gets by with a little help from our Friends… actually, we get by with a lot of help from our Friends!
October 20-26, 2019 is the 13th annual National Friends of Libraries Week, and it’s the perfect opportunity for the administration and trustees of the Bridgeville Public Library to give our Friends a big shout out for all they do to make a difference for us every single day.
“Any acknowledgement of the Friends of the Library usually starts with their continued and growing fundraising efforts, and with good reason.” said Library Director Ben Hornfeck. “However, the importance of the Friends of the Library stretches far beyond their financial support. The Friends of the Library not only help the patrons, staff, and Board of Bridgeville Public Library, but also carry the library with them into the Community, increasing the awareness of our programs and services. We are truly appreciative of their support all year long.”
Officers of the organization are:
President: Cindy Capozzoli
Vice President: Terri Aquilina
Treasurer: Rebecca Berton
Secretary: Bethany Carroll
Advisor: Cami Capozzoli
Advisor: Janet Nock
Webmaster: Theresa Cavrak
There are many more contributors who actively volunteer their time to assist the group with fundraising efforts that include an annual spring fashion show, Halloween party and a used book sale held every spring and fall.
Joining the Friends of the Library is a terrific way to make new friends of your own, and give back to our town and make its library even better.
Please contact the library at 412-221-3737 or visit http://www.friendsofbpl.org/ to learn more about what the Friends do, and to find out how to become a member of the Friends.
National Friends of Libraries Week is coordinated by United for Libraries, a division of the American Library Association with approximately 4,000 personal and group members representing hundreds of thousands of library supporters. United for Libraries supports those who govern, promote, advocate, and fundraise for libraries, and brings together library trustees, advocates, friends, and foundations into a partnership that creates a powerful force for libraries in the 21st century.
