5 Things You Can Do with Your Library Account Online: Library Catalog Tips and Tricks
Our online catalog offers many cool features that make managing your library account a breeze. Below you will find a list of ways you can use your account to keep track of your library materials. We hope you have fun testing out all of the awesome features and letting us know which one is your favorite.
- Enabling Borrowing History
Borrowers can manually enable the catalog system to keep track of their borrowing history. To do this, they can login to their account and click My Settings. Under the Account Preferences section, they can find their current borrowing history status listed with a link to change it. Click the toggle button until it is dark blue with a check mark and then press the Save Changes button. The catalog system will keep track of your borrowing history starting from when it was enabled, and you can disable it at any time.
- Sign Up for Text Notifications
Sometimes it’s just easier to receive notifications via text, and through the catalog, patrons can find detailed information on how to sign up for this free, optional service. One thing to note is that users will still receive notices via the method selected when they signed up for a library card (phone or email).
Through text notifications, you can renew checked out items and get more information about holds, check outs, overdue items, and late fees. To learn more about the sign-up process and all the options available with text notifications, check out the FAQ page.
- Updating Account Information
Life brings many changes, and not all library users have the time to call us or stop by to update their account information. Through their online account, users can change their email address and change their pin or password.
To change any information, users will need to find the My Setting options on the menu. This will bring up the user setting home page and there will be a section called Account Information which has links to change or update this information.
Things to keep in mind:
- Email addresses will require the user to respond to a confirmation email.
- Pin numbers are 4 digits of your choosing
- Preferred Holds and Pick-Up Location
Make putting holds on items quicker by setting your preferred holds and pick up location. You can find your current hold and pick up location under the Account Preferences section under the My Settingstab. Library users who find it convenient to use more than one library location can select up to three libraries.
For those patrons who find it easier to pick up at one library, the catalog can enable single-click holds, which skips over the option to select a pick-up location. Single-click holds can be enabled and disabled at any time.
- Managing Holds
Updating your holds lists has never been quicker. In your library account, you can easily manage your hold list through the On Hold tab. Users can pick individual or multiple holds (they must be selected in the Not Ready tab) and can either cancel or pause holds that are not in transit).
