Looking Back at Love Your Library Month
September is Love Your Library month in Allegheny County, and this year was especially memorable as we celebrated Bridgeville Public Library’s 60th anniversary. Thank you to everyone who supported the library this month. Your generosity is essential in maintaining the library, and it allows us to fund our programs and collection.
The library celebrated its anniversary with a Patio Party and Wine Tasting, a Family Mini-Golf Day, and a celebratory Gala.
Attendees at the Patio Party enjoyed a relaxing evening of live music, wine and socializing with friends and fellow library lovers. Local musician, Brad Bendis entertained party-goers and J&D Winery supplied wine for the evening.
The following day, families enjoyed a fun afternoon of mini-golf at the library. A three-hole course was set up, complete with obstacles to navigate around. Popcorn was provided, and families could also browse the Friends of the Library’s bi-annual book sale.
Festivities concluded with a gala celebration that celebrated the library’s past and toasted its future. The gala was attended by Senator Devlin Robinson and State Representative Anita Kulik, both of whom presented the library with proclamations. The proclamations acknowledged the library’s history and contributions to the Bridgeville community. Also in attendance were family members of the library’s founders, Louise Bergstrom, Grace McDivitt, Betty Mihalyi, Betty Mincemoyer, Sylvia Saperstein, and Betty Sutton.
We appreciate everyone who supported the library by attending an anniversary event or through donating. Thank you for your vital support not just during September, but all year-round.
